Teachers’ Day 2026: Honouring the Educators Who Shape Imo’s Future

Honouring the Educators Who Shape Imo’s Future

On Teachers’ Day, Imo State celebrates the educators whose work in the classroom helps shape knowledge, character and the values that guide future generations. In his message for the occasion, Governor Hope Uzodimma described the classroom as the foundation for a society in which citizens can thrive and progress can be sustained across generations.

The message recognises teachers’ dedication, sacrifice and commitment to learning. It also restates the importance of teacher welfare, professional growth and the institutions that support quality education.

The celebration comes amid renewed attention to staffing in public schools. In September 2026, public reports said Imo State recruited 6,030 teachers to strengthen teaching and learning in primary and secondary schools and help address staffing gaps across the state’s 27 local government areas.

Teachers’ Day is an opportunity to recognise the daily work of educators: helping learners build confidence, curiosity, discipline and the practical skills needed to contribute to their communities. We thank teachers across Imo State for their service and wish them a meaningful Teachers’ Day celebration.
